Slice the kielbasa into 1/2-inch thick rounds and set aside.
Peel the potatoes and cut them into 1-inch cubes. Slice the carrots into 1/4-inch thick rounds, dice the celery into small pieces, chop the onion, and mince the garlic.
Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the sliced kielbasa and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until lightly browned. Remove the kielbasa with a slotted spoon and set aside.
