Step 1

1. In the quart-sized resealable plastic bag, combine heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Seal the bag tightly and remove as much air as possible to avoid leaks.

2. Place the quart-sized bag into the gallon-sized bag. Add the ice and kosher salt to the gallon bag, ensuring that the smaller bag is nestled in the middle of the ice.
