Ingredients

  • 500 grams Minced meat (lamb or beef)
  • 150 grams Green peas
  • 1 medium, finely chopped Onion
  • 2 medium, finely chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 finely chopped Green chili
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon (or to taste) Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons, finely chopped Fresh cilantro (coriander leaves)

Directions

Step 1

Heat the cooking oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Step 2

Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for 30 seconds until aromatic.

Step 3

Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 4

Stir in the green chili and ginger-garlic paste. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.

Step 5

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they break down into a soft paste, about 5 minutes.

Step 6

Mix in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Stir well to combine the spices with the tomato mixture.

Step 7

Add the minced meat and cook on medium-high heat until the meat turns brown and is no longer raw, about 7-8 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent sticking.

Step 8

Pour in 1 cup of water, reduce the heat to low, and cover the pan. Let the kheema simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.

Step 9

Add the green peas and garam masala. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes until the peas are tender and the dish reaches your desired consistency.

Step 10

Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro and serve hot with rice, naan, or parathas.
