Ingredients

  • 2 cups (crushed) Animal crackers
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
  • 14 ounces Sweetened condensed milk
  • 0.75 cup Key lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon Key lime zest
  • 4 large Egg yolks
  • 1 cup Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • 1 as needed Lime slices or zest (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper to make the bars easier to remove.

Step 2

In a food processor, pulse the animal crackers until they are finely ground into crumbs. Alternatively, you can place them in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.

Transfer the crumbs to a bowl and stir in the granulated sugar. Add the melted butter, mixing until the crumbs are evenly coated and hold together when pressed.
