Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 small Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Oregano
  • 0.75 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste (no added sugar)
  • 100 milliliters Beef broth (unsweetened and low-carb)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional garnish)
  • 8 leaves Lettuce leaves (e.g., romaine or butter lettuce)

Directions

Step 1

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the finely chopped onion to the skillet and sauté for 2–3 minutes, until softened.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook for 5–7 minutes, until fully browned and no pink remains.

Step 5

Sprinkle the paprika, cumin, chili powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper over the beef. Stir well to evenly coat the meat in the spices.

Step 6

Mix in the tomato paste, ensuring it's evenly incorporated. Then pour in the beef broth and stir to combine.

Step 7

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5–7 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken slightly and the flavors to develop.

Step 8

Remove the skillet from heat and let it cool for a minute. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Step 9

Serve the keto taco mince in lettuce leaves as taco wraps, or with your preferred low-carb accompaniment.

Step 10

Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro if desired.
