Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium-sized, finely diced yellow onion
  • 2 cloves, minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons powdered erythritol
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 0.25 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté for 8-10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onions are soft and caramelized.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 4

Sprinkle the powdered erythritol over the onions and stir to combine, allowing the sweetness to meld with the onions.

Step 5

Add the apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, and low-sodium soy sauce (or coconut aminos) to the skillet. Stir well to incorporate.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to low, then pour in the heavy cream. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens slightly, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 7

Season with salt and black pepper to taste, stirring one final time.

Step 8

Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool slightly. It can be used immediately or stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
