Ingredients

  • 250 grams Ground pork
  • 100 grams Shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 150 grams Almond flour
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 teaspoon Xanthan gum
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons Green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 10 large Cabbage leaves

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine ground pork, chopped shrimp, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onion, ginger, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, combine almond flour and xanthan gum. Add the egg and mix to form a dough. Knead until smooth.

Step 3

Pinch off small portions of the dough and roll them into balls (about the size of a small lime). Flatten each ball between two sheets of parchment paper into thin circles to form the dumpling wrappers.

Step 4

Take a cabbage leaf and cut it into small squares, approximately the same size as the wrapper.

Step 5

Place a wrapper on the cutting board and put a cabbage square on top. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of filling into the center. Gather up the sides of the wrapper and lightly press to adhere. Repeat for the remaining filling and wrappers.

Step 6

Place the Siu Mai pieces in a steamer basket. Ensure they are spaced apart to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Steam the Siu Mai over boiling water for 12-15 minutes, or until the pork and shrimp filling is cooked through.

Step 8

Remove from the steamer and serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
