Ingredients

  • 2 cups almond flour
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the mozzarella cheese and cream cheese. Microwave on high for about 1 minute, stirring halfway through, until completely melted and smooth.

Step 3

Add the almond flour and egg to the melted cheese mixture. Mix well until a dough forms. You may need to knead the dough with your hands to fully incorporate all ingredients. Set aside.

Step 4

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 3 minutes.

Step 5

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Step 6

Stir in the tomato paste, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 3 minutes to combine the flavors.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley. Allow the filling to cool slightly.

Step 8

Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll out to about 1/4 inch thickness.

Step 9

Cut the rolled dough into 4-inch circles using a cookie cutter or a glass.

Step 10

Place a tablespoon of the meat filling onto the center of each circle. Pinch the edges to form a triangular shape, leaving the center slightly open.

Step 11

Arrange the sfiha on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 12

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the dough is golden and cooked through.

Step 13

Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
