Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized bulbs Jicama
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1.5 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.25 cup Sliced jalapeños
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Peel the jicama bulbs and cut them into fry-shaped sticks, about ¼-inch thick.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss the jicama fries in the mixture until they are evenly coated.

Step 4

Spread the jicama fries on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap for even cooking.

Step 5

Bake the fries in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are tender and lightly browned.

Step 6

Remove the fries from the oven and evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.

Step 7

Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 8

Once the cheese has melted, remove the fries from the oven and top with sliced jalapeños and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.

Step 9

Serve the nacho fries hot with sour cream on the side for dipping.
