Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 8 ounces Button mushrooms
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese slices
  • 8 leaves Romaine lettuce leaves
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add the butter.

Step 4

Once the butter is melted and hot, add the mushroom slices and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes until they are browned and tender. Remove mushrooms from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet over medium heat, add the burger patties. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches at least 160°F (71°C).

Step 6

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover the skillet with a lid to melt the cheese.

Step 7

To assemble the burgers, start by placing two romaine lettuce leaves on each serving plate to form a 'bun.'

Step 8

Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the lettuce leaves.

Step 9

Place the cooked burger patty with melted Swiss on top, then add a generous spoonful of sautéed mushrooms.

Step 10

Top with the remaining lettuce leaves and serve immediately.
