Ingredients

  • 500 grams Lamb shoulder, boneless
  • 200 grams Greek yogurt, full fat
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons Ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Cut the lamb shoulder into bite-sized cubes and set aside.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt, ginger, garlic, lemon juice, cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to form a marinade.

Step 3

Add the lamb cubes to the marinade and mix well until all the pieces are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight for better flavor absorption.

Step 4

Preheat your grill or oven to 200°C (392°F). If using an oven, place a wire rack over a baking sheet to catch any drips.

Step 5

Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto metal skewers. This helps ensure even cooking.

Step 6

Brush the lamb with olive oil to help maintain moisture and enhance the char when grilling.

Step 7

Grill or bake the lamb tikka on the prepared rack, turning occasionally, for about 20-30 minutes, or until the lamb is fully cooked and has developed a nice char around the edges.

Step 8

Once cooked, remove the lamb tikka from the grill or oven and let it rest for a few minutes.

Step 9

Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with a side of salad or keto-friendly dipping sauce.
