Ingredients

  • 2 cups Almond flour
  • 0.25 cup Coconut flour
  • 1 teaspoon Xanthan gum
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 large Egg
  • 0.5 cup Butter
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander
  • 0.5 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a bowl, combine almond flour, coconut flour, xanthan gum, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.

Step 3

Add the cold butter into the dry ingredients, cutting it in with a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Beat one egg in a separate bowl and add to the flour mixture. Form a dough by kneading gently. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Step 5

In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add garlic and cook for another minute.

Step 6

Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Stir in cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, tomato paste, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and remove from heat to cool.

Step 7

Roll out the chilled dough between two pieces of parchment paper to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles using a 4-inch round cutter.

Step 8

Place about a tablespoon of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Beat the second egg and brush the edges of the dough. Fold over and seal the edges with a fork.

Step 9

Place the fatayas on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 11

Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your keto-friendly Fataya!
