Ingredients

  • 500 grams fresh squid
  • 100 grams almond flour
  • 50 grams grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 500 milliliters avocado oil
  • 1 lemon wedges

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the squid under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Cut the squid bodies into 1 cm wide rings and set aside.

Step 2

In a shallow bowl, mix together almond flour, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to create the breading mixture.

Step 3

In another bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.

Step 4

Dip each squid ring into the egg mixture, shaking off any excess, then coat them with the almond flour mixture. Press gently to ensure they are fully coated.

Step 5

In a deep frying pan or heavy-bottomed pot, heat the avocado oil to 180°C (350°F).

Step 6

Carefully add the coated squid rings in small batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Fry each batch for about 3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 7

Serve the crispy squid rings hot with lemon wedges for squeezing on top.
