Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 large Onion
  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 pieces Keto-friendly bread slices
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder

Directions

Step 1

Start by seasoning the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the meat into two equal portions and shape each into a patty slightly larger than your bread slices.

Step 2

Slice the onion into thin rings. In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add the sliced onions. Cook while stirring occasionally for about 15-20 minutes or until the onions are caramelized and golden brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of butter and heat over medium-high heat. Add the beef patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove from heat and set patties aside.

Step 4

Wipe the skillet clean and reduce the heat to medium. Assemble the patty melts by placing a slice of Swiss cheese on each piece of keto bread. Place a beef patty on top of two of the slices, top with caramelized onions, another slice of cheese, and finish with another slice of bread, cheese-side down.

Step 5

Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the outside of each piece of bread. Sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder on the mayonnaise for additional flavor.

Step 6

Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet and allow to melt. Place the assembled sandwiches into the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, pressing down slightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Step 7

Transfer the patty melts to serving plates, cut in half if desired, and enjoy immediately.
