Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 units garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 0.25 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 leaves romaine lettuce leaves
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 1 unit avocado, sliced
  • 0.25 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 unit lime, sliced into wedges

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 5

Drain excess fat from the skillet, if necessary.

Step 6

Sprinkle in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper over the beef. Mix well to coat evenly.

Step 7

Stir in the tomato paste and beef broth, simmer for another 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.

Step 8

While the beef is cooking, wash and pat dry the romaine lettuce leaves. Set them aside to be used as taco shells.

Step 9

Once the beef is cooked and seasoned to taste, begin assembling the tacos.

Step 10

Take one romaine lettuce leaf and spoon the beef mixture into the center.

Step 11

Top with a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese.

Step 12

Add a dollop of sour cream, a few slices of avocado, and a sprinkling of chopped cilantro.

Step 13

Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side for an extra burst of flavor.
