Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef, preferably 80/20
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 4 slices Bacon strips
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese
  • 4 pieces Romaine lettuce leaves
  • 1 medium Tomato, sliced
  • 0.25 Red onion, sliced
  • 0.5 cup Pickles, sliced
  • 0.25 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, gently combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape each into a patty, making a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent bulging during cooking.

Step 2

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the bacon until crispy, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess fat.

Step 3

In the same grill or skillet, cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Step 4

While the burgers are cooking, prepare the toppings: wash the lettuce leaves, slice the tomato, red onion, and pickles.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard until well combined.

Step 6

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on a plate, followed by a cooked pattie with melted cheddar, two slices of bacon, a tomato slice, a few onion rings, and pickles. Top with a spoonful of the mayonnaise-mustard mixture.

Step 7

Serve immediately with an additional lettuce leaf on top if desired to hold the burger, or enjoy it open-faced.
