  • 1 pound Flank steak
  • 2 tablespoons Lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Guacamole
  • 1 cup Fresh salsa
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped cilantro

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Step 2

Peel the jicama and cut it into thin strips resembling fries.

Step 3

Toss the jicama strips with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.

Step 4

Spread the jicama fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 5

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crisp and golden brown.

Step 6

In a small bowl, combine lime juice, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Step 7

Place the flank steak in a shallow dish or zip-lock bag and pour the marinade over it.

Step 8

Massage the marinade into the meat and let it sit for at least 15 minutes to absorb flavors.

Step 9

Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 10

Sear the marinated flank steak for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F for medium-rare.

Step 11

Allow the steak to rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

Step 12

Once the jicama fries are done, top them with the sliced carne asada and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.

Step 13

Place back into the oven for another 5 minutes or until the cheese melts.

Step 14

Remove from the oven and top with guacamole, fresh salsa, and chopped cilantro.
