Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups almond flour
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 0.25 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 0.5 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese and cream cheese. Microwave for about 1 minute, or until the cheeses are melted and can easily be stirred together.

Step 3

Add the almond flour, egg, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and sea salt to the cheese mixture. Mix thoroughly until a dough forms. It may be easier to mix with your hands if the mixture is too sticky.

Step 4

Roll the dough into a large ball and place it between two sheets of parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.

Step 5

Cut the flattened dough into 12 equal rectangles or squares.

Step 6

Place the pastry pieces on the prepared baking sheet. Optionally brush each with the melted butter. Sprinkle sesame seeds evenly over the top of each pastry.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and firm to the touch.

Step 8

Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Step 9

Serve warm as a savory appetizer or snack. Enjoy!
