Ingredients

  • 500 grams Beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground turmeric
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground allspice
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 120 grams Plain Greek yogurt (for serving)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 medium Cucumber, sliced (optional for serving)
  • 0.5 medium Red onion, thinly sliced (optional for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, ground allspice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to make a marinade.

Step 2

Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin to the bowl, ensuring each piece is well coated with the marinade. Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

Step 3

Preheat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Once hot, spread the marinated beef slices in a single layer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until the beef is nicely browned and cooked through.

Step 5

To serve, place cooked beef shawarma on a plate. Optionally, top with sliced cucumber and red onion for extra freshness.

Step 6

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with a side of Greek yogurt for dipping.
