Ingredients

  • 500 grams white radishes
  • 100 grams poppy seeds
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 2 dried red chilies
  • 1 teaspoon nigella seeds
  • 2 green chilies
  • 0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 100 milliliters water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves

Directions

Step 1

Begin by peeling the white radishes and cutting them into medium-sized cubes, similar in size to traditional potato cubes.

Step 2

Soak the poppy seeds in a small bowl of water for about 10 minutes to soften them.

Step 3

Drain the poppy seeds and blend them into a smooth paste with a little water. Set aside.

Step 4

Heat the mustard oil in a pan over medium heat until hot.

Step 5

Add the dried red chilies and nigella seeds to the hot oil. Sauté for a minute until the aromas are released.

Step 6

Add the cubed radishes to the pan and stir well.

Step 7

Slit the green chilies lengthwise and add them to the pan along with the turmeric powder and salt. Mix thoroughly.

Pour in the water. Cover and cook on a medium flame for about 15 minutes, or until the radishes are cooked and tender.
