Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 quarter cup Kentucky bourbon
  • 0.25 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup pecans
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Scrub and peel the sweet potatoes, then cut them into large chunks approximately 2 inches in size.

Step 3

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the sweet potatoes and boil until fork-tender, about 15 minutes. Drain well.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, mash the sweet potatoes until smooth using a potato masher or fork.

Step 5

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, bourbon, heavy cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt. Heat until the mixture is smooth and begins to bubble slightly, about 3 minutes.

Step 6

Pour the bourbon mixture over the mashed sweet potatoes and stir well to combine. Adjust seasoning with additional salt if needed.

Step 7

Transfer the sweet potato mixture to a greased 8x8-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the pecans evenly over the top.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is lightly browned and slightly caramelized.

Step 9

Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Step 10

Serve warm and enjoy this flavorful, bourbon-infused sweet potato dish.
