Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 0.25 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1.5 cups Brown sugar (packed)
  • 0.5 cups Corn syrup
  • 0.25 cups Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoons White vinegar
  • 0.5 cups Raisins (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x9-inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, prepare the crust by combining the all-purpose flour and granulated sugar.

Step 3

Cut the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture using a pastry blender or your fingers until it forms a crumbly texture.

Step 4

Press the crust mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan, forming a firm base. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove and set aside.

Step 5

In a separate large bowl, whisk together the eggs, brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Step 6

If using raisins, scatter them over the partially baked crust.

Step 7

Pour the egg and sugar mixture over the crust and raisins, spreading it out evenly.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly golden on top.

Step 9

Allow the butter tart squares to cool completely in the pan before slicing into 16 squares.

Step 10

Serve and enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
