Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground turkey
  • 4 stalks Green onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 medium Carrot, grated
  • 1 cup Cabbage, shredded
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper
  • 40 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 1 large Egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups Neutral oil for frying (e.g., vegetable oil)
  • 0 Dipping sauce of choice (soy sauce, chili sauce, etc.)

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, green onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated carrot, shredded cabbage, salt, and black pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined.

Step 2

On a clean, flat surface, lay out one wonton wrapper. Place 1 teaspoon of the turkey mixture in the center of the wrapper.

Step 3

Lightly brush the edges of the wrapper with the beaten egg using a small pastry brush or your finger.

Step 4

Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal. If desired, bring the two bottom corners together and press to form a traditional wonton shape. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 5

In a deep skillet or heavy-bottomed pot, heat the neutral oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Step 6

Carefully fry the wontons in small batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crisp.

Step 7

Remove the cooked wontons using a slotted spoon and drain on a plate lined with paper towels.

Step 8

Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce. Enjoy!
