Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Brown sugar, packed
  • 0.25 cup Molasses
  • 1 Large egg
  • 2.25 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ground ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar (for rolling)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. You can use a hand or stand mixer for this step.

Step 3

Mix in the molasses and egg, beating until well combined.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Step 6

Scoop the dough into 1-inch balls (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them between your palms to make them smooth.

Step 7

Roll each ball in the granulated sugar until fully coated, then place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops have a crinkled appearance. Be careful not to overbake to keep the cookies soft and chewy.

Step 9

Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Serve and enjoy your molasses crinkles with a hot cup of tea or coffee. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
