Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 24 ounces Jarred marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces Ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 sheets Lasagna noodles (oven-ready)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 roll Aluminum foil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your stove-top burner to medium heat.

Step 2

In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the ground beef until thoroughly browned (about 7-10 minutes). Drain excess fat and stir in the jarred marinara sauce. Let it simmer on low heat while you prepare the cheese mixture.

Step 3

In a medium mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, dried Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth.

Step 4

Take a 9x13-inch freezer-safe casserole dish and spread a thin layer of the meat sauce across the bottom to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Place 3 oven-ready lasagna noodles on top of the sauce. You may need to break the noodles to fit the dish properly.

Step 6

Spread 1/3 of the ricotta cheese mixture evenly over the noodles, followed by 1/3 of the remaining meat sauce.

Step 7

Repeat the layering process (noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce) two more times, ending with the meat sauce as the top layer.

Step 8

Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top layer.

Step 9

Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil, labeling it with the recipe name and cooking instructions if freezing.

Step 10

If eating immediately, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the lasagna covered for 40 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Step 11

If freezing, allow the lasagna to cool completely before placing it in the freezer. When ready to bake, thaw in the refrigerator overnight, then bake at 375°F (190°C) for 60-70 minutes (covered for the first 40 minutes and uncovered for the remaining time).

Step 12

Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
