Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, sugar, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and simmer the sauce on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and chopped parsley. Mix until smooth and set aside.
Spread a thin, even layer of the meat sauce onto the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Layer 4 cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, slightly overlapping them.
Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
Add another layer of meat sauce over the mozzarella.
Repeat the layers: noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce. End with a final layer of noodles, remaining meat sauce, and the remaining mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan on top.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil, ensuring the foil does not touch the cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and lightly golden.
Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
