Ingredients

  • 200 grams Dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
  • 240 ml Heavy cream
  • 3 large Egg yolks
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Kahlua (coffee liqueur)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 0 Whipped cream (optional, for garnish)
  • 0 Chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces and place it in a heatproof bowl.

Step 2

Set the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method), ensuring the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Stir occasionally until the chocolate melts completely. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Place the bowl over the simmering water and whisk continuously for about 3-4 minutes, until the mixture slightly thickens and becomes pale. Be careful not to scramble the eggs.
