Ingredients

  • 1 piece round brie cheese (8 oz)
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Kahlua liqueur
  • 0.25 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 sheet puff pastry sheet (optional)
  • 1 piece egg (for egg wash, optional)
  • 2 cups apple slices or crackers (for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). If using puff pastry, you can prepare it in this step by rolling it out on a lightly floured surface.

Step 2

If using puff pastry, place the brie wheel in the center of the pastry sheet. Gently fold the puff pastry over the brie, sealing the edges by pinching them together. If desired, brush the pastry with an egg wash made by whisking one egg with a tablespoon of water.

Step 3

If not using puff pastry, simply leave the brie as it is and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in a small oven-safe baking dish.

Step 4

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and Kahlua liqueur. Stir until the sugar dissolves and forms a thick syrup.

Step 5

Spread the Kahlua mixture over the top of the brie. Sprinkle the chopped pecans or walnuts evenly over the syrup layer.

Step 6

Place the brie in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the brie is soft and gooey. If using puff pastry, bake until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.

Step 7

Remove the baked brie from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes for easier serving.

Step 8

Serve warm with apple slices, crackers, or both.
