Ingredients

  • 8 oz Cream cheese
  • 8 oz Imitation crab meat (or fresh crab meat)
  • 2 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Soy sauce
  • 36 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 4 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 0.25 cup Water (for sealing wrappers)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, imitation crab meat (shredded or finely chopped), green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce. Mix well until the filling is creamy and evenly combined.

Step 2

Set up a clean work surface for assembling the wontons. Place a wonton wrapper on the surface and add about 1 teaspoon of the crab filling to the center of the wrapper.

Step 3

Dip your finger into the water and lightly moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper.

Step 4

Fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal. For a more decorative look, pinch the corners together or fold slightly to secure. Ensure there are no air pockets inside.

Step 5

Repeat the process with the remaining wonton wrappers and filling until all are assembled.

Step 6

In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, test by dropping a small piece of wonton wrapper into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.

Step 7

Carefully add a few wontons to the hot oil without overcrowding the pan. Fry for 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.

Step 8

Remove the fried wontons with a slotted spoon and drain on a plate lined with paper towels. Repeat with the remaining wontons.

Step 9

Serve the Crab Rangoon warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or plum sauce.
