Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh chives (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme leaves
  • 0.75 cups Whole milk (cold)
  • 1 large Egg (lightly beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon Water (for egg wash)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Step 3

Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized bits of butter remaining.

Step 4

Gently fold in the chopped parsley, chives, and thyme until evenly distributed.

Step 5

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the cold milk. Stir gently with a fork until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead it gently 3-4 times to bring it together, then pat it into a 1-inch-thick rectangle.

Step 7

Using a 2.5-inch biscuit cutter, cut out rounds of dough. Re-roll any scraps to cut additional biscuits.

Step 8

Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.

Step 9

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create the egg wash. Brush the tops of the biscuits lightly with the egg wash for a shiny, golden finish.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are puffed and golden brown.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and transfer the biscuits to a wire rack to cool slightly. Serve warm and enjoy!
