Ingredients

  • 450 grams Fresh cherries (pitted)
  • 240 milliliters Whole milk
  • 100 grams Granulated sugar
  • 65 grams All-purpose flour
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons Pure vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter (for greasing)
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9-inch pie dish or baking dish with the unsalted butter.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and well combined.

Step 3

Gradually sift the flour into the wet mixture while continuously whisking to avoid lumps, forming a smooth, thin batter.

Step 4

Spread the pitted cherries evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 5

Carefully pour the batter over the cherries, ensuring the fruit is evenly submerged but not disturbed.

Step 6

Place the dish on the center rack of the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the clafouti is puffed, golden brown, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 7

Remove the clafouti from the oven and allow it to cool slightly for 10 minutes. It will deflate as it cools, which is normal.

Step 8

Dust the top with powdered sugar before serving warm, or enjoy it at room temperature.
