Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard
  • 0.25 cup Additional ketchup (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal later.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, 0.5 cup ketchup, parsley (if using), salt, pepper, and paprika.

Step 3

Mix the ingredients together gently using your hands or a wooden spoon, being careful not to overmix as this can make the meatloaf dense.

Step 4

Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and press it down evenly to form a compact loaf shape.

Step 5

In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, mustard, and 0.25 cup additional ketchup to make the topping glaze.

Step 6

Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf with a spoon or spatula.

Step 7

Place the loaf pan on the middle rack of the preheated oven and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) when checked with a meat thermometer.

Step 8

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes to help it hold its shape when sliced.

Step 9

Carefully transfer the meatloaf to a serving platter, slice, and serve warm. Pair it with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a side salad for a complete meal.
