Ingredients

  • 12 pieces Lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces Crushed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces Tomato paste
  • 15 ounces Tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 15 ounces Ricotta cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 4 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 cups Parmesan cheese, grated

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Fill a large pot with salted water and bring it to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain, rinse with cold water, and lay flat on a clean surface.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.

Step 4

Add ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain any excess fat.

Step 5

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, dried basil, oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Simmer the sauce over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 6

In a medium mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, chopped parsley, 2 cups of mozzarella cheese, and 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese. Mix until well combined and set aside.

Step 7

Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 8

Arrange 4 lasagna noodles lengthwise over the sauce, slightly overlapping. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles. Top with 1/3 of the meat sauce, followed by 1 cup of shredded mozzarella.

Step 9

Repeat the layering process two more times (noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, mozzarella), finishing with a final layer of meat sauce and the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese on top.

Step 10

Cover the baking dish with foil, making sure the foil does not touch the cheese to prevent sticking. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Step 11

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the lasagna is heated through.

Step 12

Allow the lasagna to rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
