Ingredients

  • 1 large loaf French bread loaf
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, diced
  • 1 medium Green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks Celery, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 pound Cooked crawfish tails
  • 2 teaspoons Creole seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoons Cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 8 ounces Cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 0.5 cup Mayonnaise
  • 3 stalks Green onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.

Step 2

Cut the French bread loaf in half lengthwise and scoop out some of the bread from the center to create a well for the filling. Set the hollowed bread aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion, chopped green bell pepper, and chopped celery, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened.

Step 4

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 additional minute until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the cooked crawfish tails to the skillet, then sprinkle with Creole seasoning and cayenne pepper (if using). Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, to incorporate the flavors.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the softened cream cheese until melted and fully combined with the crawfish mixture.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from the heat and mix in the shredded Monterey Jack cheese, mayonnaise, green onions, and parsley. Stir until the mixture is evenly combined and creamy.

Step 8

Spoon the crawfish mixture evenly into the hollowed-out French bread halves. Place the filled bread halves on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden and the cheese filling is bubbly.

Step 10

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Slice into 2-inch sections and serve warm. Enjoy!
