Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 2 Eggs
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard
  • 0.25 cup Extra ketchup (for the topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meat loaf tender.

Step 3

Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and gently press it down to shape it evenly.

Step 4

In a small bowl, mix the extra ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread this glaze evenly over the top of the meat loaf.

Step 5

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

Step 6

Let the meat loaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade meat loaf with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables!
