Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Beer (pale lager or similar)
  • 0.75 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly using clean hands or a spoon until well combined.

Step 2

Roll the mixture into small, evenly sized meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter) and set them aside on a plate or tray.

Step 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides. Remove the browned meatballs and set them aside on a plate.

Step 4

In the same skillet (do not clean it), add the beer, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Whisk together and bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat.

Step 5

Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, gently stirring to coat them in the sauce. Cover the skillet with a lid and simmer the meatballs in the sauce for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meatballs are fully cooked through and the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 6

Remove the skillet from heat. Let the meatballs rest for a few minutes before serving.

Step 7

Serve warm as an appetizer with toothpicks or over rice or noodles as a main dish. Enjoy!
