  • 2 tablespoons Fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Cilantro (coriander) leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 small Green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoons Chaat masala (optional)
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cold water

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, whisk the plain yogurt until smooth and creamy.

Step 2

Add 2 tablespoons of cold water to the yogurt and whisk again to achieve a slightly thinner consistency.

Step 3

Peel and grate the cucumber, then squeeze out the excess water using your hands or a clean kitchen towel. Add the grated cucumber to the yogurt.

Step 4

Mix in the finely chopped tomato, mint leaves, cilantro leaves, and green chili (if using).

Step 5

Season the raita with ground cumin, chaat masala (if using), salt, black pepper powder, and sugar. Stir well to combine.

Step 6

Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more salt, sugar, or spices to suit your preference.

Step 7

Transfer the raita to a serving bowl and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to chill. This will enhance the flavors.

Step 8

Serve cold as a side dish with biryani, parathas, or any spicy Indian curry. Enjoy!
