Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Ground beef
  • 0.5 pounds Italian sausage
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.25 cup Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1.5 cups Marinara sauce, divided
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, bread crumbs, milk, Parmesan cheese, eggs, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and fresh parsley. Use clean hands to mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 3

Place half of the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it out evenly. Using a spoon, create a slight indentation down the center to make room for the filling.

Step 4

Spread 3/4 cup of marinara sauce evenly into the indentation, then sprinkle 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.

Step 5

Top with the remaining meat mixture, pressing it gently to seal the edges and fully enclose the filling.

Step 6

Spread another 3/4 cup of marinara sauce over the top of the meatloaf. Cover the loaf pan with aluminum foil.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes. Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese over the meatloaf.

Step 8

Continue baking uncovered for another 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 9

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Step 10

Serve with additional marinara sauce on the side, if desired, and enjoy!
