Ingredients

  • 6 pieces Roma tomatoes
  • 0.5 piece Red onion
  • 1 piece Jalapeño pepper
  • 0.5 cup (chopped) Fresh cilantro
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 piece Lime
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cumin

Directions

Step 1

Wash the Roma tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño pepper, and cilantro thoroughly.

Step 2

Dice the Roma tomatoes into small, uniform pieces and place them in a medium-sized mixing bowl.

Step 3

Finely chop the red onion and add it to the bowl with the tomatoes.

Step 4

Slice the jalapeño in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds for a milder salsa, or leave them in for extra spice. Finely dice the jalapeño and add it to the bowl.

Step 5

Mince the garlic cloves and stir them into the mixture.

Step 6

Roughly chop the fresh cilantro and add it to the bowl.

Step 7

Cut the lime in half and juice it over the salsa mixture, making sure to squeeze out as much juice as possible.

Step 8

Add the salt and ground cumin to the bowl.

Step 9

Gently toss all the ingredients together until well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning with additional salt or lime juice, if needed.

Step 10

Cover the salsa and let it sit for 10–15 minutes at room temperature to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 11

Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for your favorite dishes. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
