Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef (80% lean/20% fat)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices (optional)
  • 4 pieces Hamburger buns
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (softened)
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices Tomato slices
  • 8 pieces Pickles
  • 4 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 4 teaspoons Mustard

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the ground beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty, making a slight indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing while cooking.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or large skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates or add a small amount of oil to the pan to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Cook the burger patties for 3-4 minutes on the first side without pressing down on them. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side for medium doneness. Adjust the time for desired doneness.

Step 5

If using cheese, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Step 6

While the burgers cook, spread a thin layer of butter on the cut sides of the hamburger buns. Toast them on the grill or skillet until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 7

To assemble the burgers, spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun and add lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles. Place the cooked burger patty on top, followed by ketchup and mustard.

Step 8

Add the top bun and serve immediately. Customize with additional toppings if desired!
