Ingredients

  • 100 grams Popping corn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoon Fine sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and fine sea salt. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat a large, deep pot over medium heat and add the vegetable oil. Place 2-3 popcorn kernels in the pot to test the heat.

Step 3

Once the test kernels pop, add the rest of the popping corn kernels to the pot in an even layer. Cover the pot with a lid, leaving a small gap for steam to escape.

Step 4

Shake the pot gently over the heat as the popcorn begins to pop. Continue shaking until the popping sounds slow down significantly, about 2-3 seconds apart. Remove the pot from heat and carefully transfer the popped popcorn to a large mixing bowl.

Step 5

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and then pour the mixture over the popcorn, tossing to coat evenly.

Step 6

Sprinkle the spiced sugar mixture over the buttered popcorn and toss again until all the popcorn is evenly coated.

Step 7

Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Enjoy the festive and sweet flavors of this holiday treat!
