Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 tbsp Jamaican jerk seasoning
  • 2 scallions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.33 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup pineapple, diced
  • 1 medium mango, diced
  • 0.5 red bell pepper, diced
  • 0.25 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp lime juice, fresh
  • 2 tbsp cilantro, chopped
  • 1 small jalapeño, finely diced
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, Jamaican jerk seasoning, chopped scallions, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly combined, but avoid overmixing.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about 3/4 inch thick.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Grill the turkey patties for 5-6 minutes per side or until fully cooked through, with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Remove from the heat and let them rest for 3 minutes.

Step 5

While the patties cook, prepare the tropical fruit salsa. In a medium bowl, combine the diced pineapple, diced mango, red bell pepper, chopped red onion, lime juice, chopped cilantro, and diced jalapeño. Mix gently to combine.

Step 6

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster, if desired.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by spreading mayonnaise on the bottom bun (optional), adding a lettuce leaf, a turkey patty, and a generous spoonful of tropical fruit salsa. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately and enjoy the vibrant flavors!
