Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch cake pan or two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and mix in the milk, Jack Daniel's whiskey, and vanilla extract.
Beat the eggs in a separate bowl, then slowly temper them with the melted butter mixture by adding a small amount of the butter mixture to the eggs while whisking continuously. Once tempered, combine the egg mixture fully with the melted butter mixture.
Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, whisking until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan(s). Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
While the cake bakes, prepare the whiskey caramel sauce. In a small saucepan, heat the brown sugar and heavy cream over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in an additional splash of Jack Daniel's whiskey (about 1 tablespoon). Set aside to cool slightly.
Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Pour the whiskey caramel sauce over the cooled cake. If desired, sprinkle with pecans and a dusting of powdered sugar for garnish.
Slice and serve. Enjoy responsibly!
