Ingredients

  • 230 grams unsalted butter
  • 200 grams semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 200 grams granulated sugar
  • 100 grams brown sugar, packed
  • 3 pieces large eggs
  • 60 ml Jack Daniel's whiskey
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 125 grams all-purpose flour
  • 30 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 70 grams pecans (optional, chopped)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a 9x9-inch (23x23 cm) square baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and chocolate chips, stirring frequently until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.

Step 4

Stir in the Jack Daniel's whiskey and vanilla extract until combined.

Step 5

Pour the slightly cooled chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture. Stir until smooth and evenly mixed.

Step 6

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula, being careful not to overmix.

Step 7

If using pecans, fold them into the batter at this stage.

Step 8

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan. Smooth the top with a spatula for an even surface.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Step 10

Remove the pan from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Step 11

Once cooled, lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment paper and slice into 12 squares. Serve and enjoy responsibly!
