Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 250 grams ground pork
  • 100 grams plain breadcrumbs
  • 50 grams grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 unit large egg
  • 60 milliliters milk
  • 2 units clove garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 500 milliliters marinara sauce

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, milk, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly with your hands until all ingredients are evenly combined, but don’t overmix.

Step 2

Scoop out 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture and roll it into a ball. Repeat with the remaining meat mixture until all the meatballs are formed. You should end up with about 18-20 meatballs.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, turning carefully until the meatballs are browned all over. They do not need to be fully cooked at this stage.

Step 4

Remove the browned meatballs from the pan and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Step 5

In the same skillet, pour in the marinara sauce and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Gently add the meatballs into the sauce and spoon the sauce over them to coat.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the meatballs simmer in the sauce for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will ensure the meatballs are fully cooked and absorb the flavors of the sauce.

Step 7

Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with additional salt or pepper if needed.

Step 8

Serve the meatballs hot over a bed of spaghetti, with crusty bread, or simply on their own with extra grated Parmesan and fresh parsley for garnish. Enjoy!
