Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • 0.5 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 cup red onion, finely minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb and ground beef, breaking them apart with your hands or a wooden spoon.

Step 3

Add the minced red onion, garlic, crumbled feta cheese, chopped parsley, and mint, followed by the oregano, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper.

Step 4

In a separate small bowl, lightly beat the egg, then pour it into the meat mixture along with the panko breadcrumbs.

Step 5

Using your hands, mix everything together until fully combined, but avoid over-mixing to keep the meatballs tender.

Step 6

Scoop out roughly 2 tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into a ball using your palms. Repeat until all the meat mixture is used, placing the formed meatballs onto the prepared baking sheet.

Step 7

Drizzle the olive oil over the meatballs or brush them lightly to help with browning during baking.

Step 8

Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown on the outside. An internal temperature reading of 160°F (71°C) ensures they are fully cooked.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let the meatballs rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 10

Serve with tzatziki sauce, fresh pita bread, or a Greek salad for a complete Mediterranean-inspired meal.
