Ingredients

  • 200 grams Tapioca flour
  • 50 grams All-purpose flour
  • 250 milliliters Warm water
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground white pepper
  • 200 grams Peanut sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Sweet soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Fried shallots, for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Chives, chopped, for garnish

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the tapioca flour and all-purpose flour. Mix until well combined.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, combine warm water, minced garlic, salt, and ground white pepper. Stir until the salt dissolves.

Step 3

Gradually pour the liquid mixture into the flour mixture, stirring continuously with a spatula until the dough comes together and is smooth.

Step 4

Lightly dust your hands with tapioca flour. Take a small portion of the dough (about the size of a large marble) and roll it into a ball between your palms. Repeat until all the dough is used.

Step 5

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Gently drop the cilok balls into the boiling water. Stir occasionally to prevent them from sticking to the bottom.

Step 6

Reduce the heat to medium and let the balls cook for about 15-20 minutes or until they float to the surface and are translucent.

Step 7

Using a slotted spoon, remove the cilok balls from the water and let them drain in a colander.

Step 8

In a small pan over low heat, warm the peanut sauce with the sweet soy sauce, stirring constantly until heated through.

Step 9

Arrange the cilok balls on a serving platter. Drizzle with the warmed peanut sauce.

Step 10

Garnish with fried shallots and chopped chives. Serve immediately.
