Ingredients

  • 4 medium Onions
  • 150 grams Gram flour (besan)
  • 50 grams Rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro (coriander leaves), chopped
  • 2 small Green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 100 ml Water
  • 500 ml Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

Directions

Step 1

Peel and slice the onions thinly. Place the sliced onions in a large mixing bowl and gently separate the layers using your hands.

Step 2

Add salt to the onions and toss them well. Let them rest for 5-10 minutes to release water.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, mix gram flour, rice flour, ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and carom seeds.

Add the ginger garlic paste, chopped cilantro, and finely chopped green chilies to the dry mixture.

Squeeze the onions lightly to remove excess water and add them to the flour mixture. Combine everything well.
