Ingredients

  • 4 medium Potatoes
  • 1 cup Green peas
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro
  • 0.5 cup Bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup Yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons Cilantro chutney
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Boil the potatoes in a large pot of water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain, let them cool slightly, then peel and mash them in a large mixing bowl until smooth.

Step 2

Blanch the green peas in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then drain and lightly mash them with the back of a spoon. Add the mashed peas to the potatoes.

Step 3

To the potato and pea mixture, add ground coriander, cumin, chili powder, salt, and chopped fresh cilantro. Mix well to combine.

Step 4

Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a flat, round patty about 2.5 inches in diameter. Repeat with the remaining mixture.

Step 5

Spread the bread crumbs on a plate. Dredge each potato patty lightly in the bread crumbs, ensuring an even coating on all sides.

Step 6

Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties in batches, cooking for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a plate lined with paper towels.

Step 7

In a small bowl, mix the yogurt, cilantro chutney, and lemon juice until smooth and well combined. Adjust seasoning with salt if needed.

Step 8

Serve the hot Aloo Tikki with a generous drizzle of the cilantro chutney yogurt, and enjoy immediately.
