Directions

Step 1

Melt the semisweet chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (double boiler method). Stir occasionally until smooth, then allow it to cool to room temperature.

Step 2

In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter on medium-high speed until creamy and pale, about 3 minutes.

Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract to the butter, mixing on medium speed until incorporated. Scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is evenly combined.
